Coach Shane is originally from Wisconsin — Go Packers and Brewers! — but has now called the Lowcountry home for the past 23 years. He came to Hilton Head on a golf internship at Sea Pines, and the Lowcountry has been home ever since. Chances are you've seen Coach Shane, his wife Shannon, and the kids, Ellie and Braxton, around the ball fields.
Shane played football, basketball, baseball, and golf through high school, but baseball has always been his favorite. He continued his love of the ball field by playing competitive softball, until his children were old enough to start their own baseball and softball journeys.
Ask any kid who's played for Coach Shane and they'll tell you — he sees you. He has a gift for treating every player as an individual, bringing the same genuine energy and care no matter where a kid is in their development. It doesn't matter if you're the first one picked or the last one at bat: Coach Shane finds what makes each player tick and makes sure they know they matter. That kind of coaching sticks with a kid long after the final out.
For the last six years he's been coaching multiple Bluffton Youth Sports baseball and softball teams. Shane and Braxton are excited to join the 9U Lowcountry Sealanders!
