Chomp's Defensive Situations™

Where do I go?

Put runners on, pick the outs and the kind of hit, then tap where it goes. All nine Chomps go where they belong, and the dotted line shows the throw.

Defense comes down to the 3 B's. You are either going to the ball. You are going to a base. Or you are backing up.

Infield

Regular depth. Most range, and the play is usually at 1st.

System

How 9U plays it: the shortstop or second baseman runs out to the edge of the outfield grass on every throw, and outfielders always hit him. On a double-play ball near 2nd, take the bag yourself. A throw is fine too if the bag is covered.

Speed
Baseball field. Tap anywhere fair to hit the ball there.

Tap the field to hit a grounder there.

How it works

  1. Tap 1st, 2nd or 3rd to put runners on.
  2. Pick how many outs. The infield lines up the textbook way; change it if you like.
  3. Pick grounder, line drive or fly ball, then tap where it goes. For balls in the air, tap where it comes down.
  4. Think you've got it? Switch to Quiz and move the Chomps yourself.
  5. Ready for game speed? Simulation plays an inning in real time: when the ball's in your hands, you make the throw.
